My car keeps over heating please help.
Whats up guys I'm kinda new to the forums and i believe the only way i would obtain my answer is if i post lol.. well i have a 96 maxima se with the bose system. my car keeps over heating i changed the water pump, new thermostat, and radiator, complete system flush because since it was my first car i kinda missed orange and green coolant. ok so when the car gets warm enough the temp gauge reaches the "H" and when i stop at a light put it in neutral and raise the rpm to 4k it returns to the right temp until i start to drive again but its weird because i stop at another light its completely opposite, warms up when it idles and cools down when i drive. my mechanic said it could be the head, water pump, and even just the sensor. i need an answer any ideas?
I have to agree with your mechanic, at least partially. Any of those things he mentioned and a few more could cause your problem. You need to do some troubleshooting and find out what part is or is not good.
Is the coolant level full when checked with the engine cold.
Do the radiator fans run (both of them).
Are both radiator hoses hot when the car is at operating temperature.
Find the answers to these basic questions and we'll go from there.
