97 SE code 1003, Reverse issue
I have a few questions.
1) How can I tell if my 5 speed was originally an automatic? I did a vin look-up and it came up as automatic, is there another way to tell for sure? When I went to look for the TCU, I could not find it. There was a lot of wiring because of an aftermarket system and gps, but I only saw the BCM and some box for the aftermarket alarm.
2) Is there a way to tell if my ECU is MT or Auto?
3) Are the Neutral Safety Switch, the Reverse/Neutral Switch, and the Park/Neutral Switch all the same thing? If so, where is it? I looked all over these forums and online, and cannot find a good picture of it. If there is a small amount of oil leaking on the switch(es), could/would that cause a 1003 code?
4) When I accelerate in Reverse, then put the car in neutral, it jumps back and stalls out after releasing the clutch. I'm guessing this must be related to the 1003. The only way to prevent that is to switch into first before going into neutral and then releasing the clutch, after reversing. What would cause that kind of behavior? I did have the clutch replaced about 3k miles ago, and the problem first appeared right around that time. Flywheel? maybe?
5) I'm also getting 0303 and 0503 from the ECU, and after searching the 4th gen forum I saw that these codes can be fixed without changing the O2 sensors if the car was originally an automatic. I can't seem to find those threads anymore.
Any answers/thoughts/tips would be appreciated
Thank You, in advance
