Starter makes weird noises when car is started on cold mornings, any one know why?
I have a 99 GLE and park inside of a garage but every morning I turn on my car after it starts the starter makes a weird sound for a couple of seconds. Im not overturning it either , Im positive about that Ive had the maxima for 2 years and this problem just started. It usually happens when its cold outside however it also happens during the day sometimes. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

what is the noise like? a high pitch squeal by any chance?
how many miles are on your car?
it can be the accessory belts slipping a little... also, as cars stand over night, some moisture can build up there, so that can cause a little noise.... many people have problems with the high pitch squeal, i have it as well, but unlike yours, mine goes away after the car is fully warmed up only. belts may need to be tightened or just greased, or if they look worn, with cracks and stuff, they should be replaced
this has been asked MANY times now. a simple search would find you the exact link to the site which coudl remedy this issue. it was something like www.motorvate.ca and clicking on 'engine" and then starter noise fix would bring you the possible solutoin. if you're not too good with this stuff, have a mechanic do it for you for a few bucks.
