My 900 Dollar 95 GXE 5 Speed
Hey there, long time lurker first time poster. ![Cool](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/cool.gif)
Heres my baby.. Shes got 250 000 miles on her but, the photos say it all.
If I dont beat on her too hard, how long could I expect to get out of the engine? It runs great (0-60 mph timed at 6.9 seconds!) and does not consume or leak oil.
Also, is it worth y-piping an engine of this age? Ive only ever taken her over 5000 RPM when I timed the 0-60, is it safe to rev a 250 000 mile VQ over 4500 from time to time?
Ps, this car is light as a feather for it's size... GXE's all day

Hey Welcome, and one thing I love about Nissan is these motors are pretty much bulletproof as long as maintenance is well kept.
I bought my 97 GXE 5MT w/ 232K for $1200 and I beat the living hell out of it and it runs like a champ. It is my DD and it has never let me down going on 5 months now and she still chirps 1st and 2nd easily.
Maintenance, Maintenance, Maintenance.
Just my $0.02![Big Grin](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Also, many have seen 400k+ with these motors, IJS
BTW your car looks amazing and engine bay looks clean. Throw a Y-pipe on and let the fun begin.

I bought my 98 GXE with 250k on the clock, drove it for 4 years and sold it at 300k. The guy that bought the car from me are very happy with it. And I like to drive my cars hard sometimes. The car saw 7k rpm a few times. If your car is 1 owner and he took care of it, you could probably drive another 250k if you keep up regular maintenance. Car looks good too. Drop a few mods on her, drive and enjoy!

No Way.
With maintenance like that, your motor will probably go to 500 or even 700K miles easy.....the body will fall apart from rust but the motor will j-u-s-t.......k-e-e-p...........g-o-i-n-g
There's a 5th gen 3.0 on here at 400K miles and counting......there's even a 3rd gen VG motor guy with 700K miles.

Taking your car to the redline does not constitute beating on it, rather you are letting the car breathe a little more
Now, riding the rev limiter all the time is not a good thing.

Very nice clean find. Whoever had that took very good care. My 99 is at 145k and has oil leaks, and all sorts of suspension problems. Seen it at redline a few times. But drive it normal. 6.9 was new car time for the 4th gens and it can still achieve that time with is very good.
