Trouble on Start-up

Hey All, thank you for your interest.
I have a 1995 Nissan Maxima, and about a year ago I started having troubles starting it up. When I would attempt to turn the car over nothing would happen. The car wouldn't turn at all, wouldn't even make a sound. Then one day i threw the car into neutral and it started up no problem. That led me to believe it was the neutral safety switch. Anyway, in recent days my car is having the same troubles, and worse it still doesn't start in the neutral. Now if I give it a few moments with continuous turns of the key it will eventually start up. It's the cold season here in Texas with temperatures getting in the low 20's if that is at all a concern. Also I'm a beginner to intermediate car guy so if you think this is a problem i can fix myself let me know!! Thanks all!

Replace the ignition switch. Common problem.

When it doesn't turn over, do the dash lights all go on? If so, see this: http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...ml#post8875419.

Even though it's an ignition switch problem, replacing the switch doesn't always fix it. It didn't for me.
