Help! Misfire/popping under load. KS code?
Hey guys or never had to register or post before because of all the info available here. I've searched for days looking for similar problems to mine now I'm stumped. About a week ago I was started get a misfire under Wot around 3 to 4k it hesitates and I hear popping coming from the cat. No CEL at all. I put in new plugs (ngk) hoping that would solve it but still had the same issues. Was thinking a bad coil but I would think that would throw a misfire code? Scanned for codes and got 0304- knock sensor. Everything I've read says the knock sensor won't cause misfires it more cases low rpm hesitation and bad gas mileage. Could a bad knock sensor cause these issues? I don't want to just start throwing parts at the car hoping something will work so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The most noticeable and most typical symptom of a failed/failing KS is poor acceleration, not misfire.
Regardless of your lack of DTC, first thing I'd probably check would be my COPs and boots for damage, dirt and corrosion.

IMO, you're barking up the wrong tree thinking it's the KS. More than likely, it's the coilpack(s).

Update: Misfire was definitely a coil pack, replaced it with a cheap aftermarket coil a friend had and immediately got p1320. I know this is a common problem with aftermarket coils but the car is running great. Is there any harm in driving this way for a short period of time or could this code cause any damage?
