Open doors

I know it might not be the best view but can I see some pics with the doors open? No one ever shows that after a dip. I'd like to see how noticeable it is if a contrasting color.

If you are able - thanks!

plasti-dip isn't paint. it's meant more for wheels or engine covers. you can't shine it or do anything to make it look good once it starts to peel. i mean there's pro shops that do it to cars and that's fine, but just spray can dipping your car unless you know what your doing is going to come out looking ok at best. my .02c

doesn't plasti dip start to peel off? if u sprayed the whole car with plasti dip, what happens when it rains, or go take it for a car wash?

I know its famous for rims, and usually doesn't come off but painting it on the body... may be different.

either way i think it looks really cool. especially its only plasti dip... professional paint can look epic but we are talking plasti dip here

they sell a kit that comes with everything you need to do the whole car, it's not just for rims, it last about 2 years, I know a guy who did this on his car, and it looks pretty bad ***, and they still stuff that you put in the paint to make it glossy I think they call it glassifiy or something like that, and they do sell stuff to clean it as well, he told me it last like 2-3 years, And I've seen people take it to car washing as well

I plan to dip my car in gloss black when I see the right amount of money at the right time of year...

P.S 5-8 coats is best

It's pretty much rubber so that wouldn't stand up to the heat from the engine, I don't know this to be true, but I'd think so...

Obviously it can with stand heat from the engine if it can handle heat of wheels. You think the engine gets hotter than the wheels???

dipped 5th Gen

I had my 5th generation dipped in anthracite grey. It looks really good the color before was a burgundy color. Yes plastidip does peel but if your rough with it. Rims peel more often than the car does. They have a whole lot of colors including chameleon and its looks really good. I just pressure wash my car myself, simple and fast. I do have a very very soft microfiber towel that I use to dry it but you really don't need do. Plastidip, if taken care of can last up to 2 years and they are not just a flat color they have pearlized colors. I my color because even though it's dirty you can't tell so I get away from so many car washed...just clean my windows lol.

Do an experiment. Drive 100 miles and then jump out and grab your engine block and then your wheels. Bring a bandaid

If your gonna do it yourself or with friends, then the whole system would cost you $200 - 250 including paint, and such...

This. My car has been dipped close to two years now and looked just fine (I canned it, btw). Just had it resprayed with the regular stuff to even out the imperfections. With enough coats this stuff should last you many more years.
The real ***** about pd is you have to be really careful around it. Some ****er that I was parked next to scratched my door with whatever they were loading in their car, and I now have a nice reminder that I can't buff out or do anything with, but only have the whole door resprayed again. Bird crap and bug **** is another thing. You have to get it off as quickly as possible or you're risking leaving the imprint etched in.
Major pro, is how cheap this stuff is and requires no prep work, just a clean surface to work with.

OP, I can clearly see imperfections on your hood. It's a ***** to spray can a hood with this stuff and make it look good. Do yourself a favor and get a real kit off dipyourcar.
