How do you know or how can you tell you need a new one? (Besides throwing a P0443?)

 

the fsm refers to that as the "EVAP canister purge control valve" though dealerships ofttimes bastardize what fsm calls things.

 

I'm throwing a P0443 (and P0325 of course). Car has been bucking lightly at various speeds, extremely intermittently. Now its also occasionally dying when I'm at a light or slowed way down! There appears to be NO stickie for purge valve and no other info to help so I'm missing something or on the wrong track? Thanks for any help I can get!
