Is this black/white stripe wire part of the connector that plugs into the radio or is it part of the Metra adapter that plugs into the Nissan wire harness?
Also, What year is your car? Are you replacing a Bose or non-Bose radio?

Scosche NN032? I have this adapter from Wal*Mart, and I don't have the Black/White wire connected as the directions said not to. It is listed as ;
6 wire plug:White Black
6. Black/White = Display Lighting Ground, Not Used.
My stereo works fine.
Did you connect the rest of the wires using the harness adapter and stereo instructions? How did you connect them, solder or crimp? I have seen people try to twist and superglue. Not very bright, but its worth asking.
Did you have factory Bose?
