That is true love and appreciation for your car right there!
I love my 97 also! When I was 16 my mom and I were really struggling, financially. Her life savings consisted of only a few thousand and our relatives who were supposed to be watching our backs, burned us, by telling her to buy this Volvo from their friend who was a mechanic and super trust worthy.
Well he was not, and we ended up calling it a total loss. So my mom ended up emptying her pockets and throwing the dice to get my 97, which was in a collision previously and rebuilt. It was the scariest feeling ever, knowing that the odds are seriously stacked against you and if you screw up. You are basically ****ed.
At the time I did not know how great these cars were, so we expected only only a few years of use, at least. And in the meantime, try to rebuild that savings then see what happens.
Fast forward 7 years and my Maxima is still here. Even though all my friends have BRZs, 370s, and fancy luxury cars. I still hang on to my good old Maxima because it was there when I got kicked out, it gave me shelter when I had nothing, it took my butt to college, it got me to the interview which started my career, and my Maxima helped me move into my first real home, which, I can call mine.
This is going to sound hella cheesy, but my Maxima is not just a ride to get from A to B, it is like family. Because it was there by my side through every challenge and difficulty that I had to face. So yeah basically, I love that hunk of metal hahah
