Trying to do the brakes on a Max with 100K miles. Pads are getting close to end of life. Rears calipers are working fine, rotors worn evenly/shiny on both sides, parking brake working... but I can't get either piston to turn. I even remounted the caliper after removing the pads to hold it in place, used the mega long nose... got one to move may 1/8" with a lot of grunting. I looked under the outer seal and they look nice and clean in there (unlike the last set that was all rusty and clearly had issues).
So... are the calipers hosed? Why would they still move in/out properly under pedal or cable pressure but be so stuck they don't turn? Would they be rebuildable or are they going to have more than sludge in there if I open them up?

i just bout one rebuilt caliper frome autozone , it was only 50 bux with lifetime guarantee, so if they last 2 yrs and i gotta do it again so what its free!! id go that route!Originally Posted by BobMax
