I though it came out pretty good, don't like that the surface is too rough

painted it with duplicolor vinyl dye/paint

Looks good from here in these pics. I would have painted the tweeter grill as well tho.
May want to do some scuff tests to see how it holds now. SEM is another excellent mfg. of interior dyes.

It definitely looks good.

I don't have any experience with the paint, so I wonder how the durability will be.

I am checking the durability, and what I have found is rough surfaces will scratch off the paint/dye as you would expect, this happens specially on plastic parts like the bottom of the panel, it is tougher on the leather/vinyl. Can't scratch with your nails, at least I could not.

Arm rests are looking very good so far.

I might paint the speaker grill

will be posting pics of any improvements

You Could of just swapped over to original black door panels and not have to worry about damaging paint also all the inserts are easily interchangable.

I might still to do this depending on the durability of the black coat

Sure looks nice!

Both of my beige front door panels are worn out and scratched. I'll be peaking at the JY within the next month. They charge only $10 for each panel.

I would let the paint sit and cure for about a week before installing the panels back onto the car. Thats just me tho.

I painted my steering wheel with that stuff. Black gloss - it definitely chips but not really noticeable unless you look close.

I used the autozone vinyl paint on my wifes car. It rubbed off on the fuzzy part of her door panel, but on the vinyl, it stuck great. Looked great a year later when it was sold. Did the dash to, same result.

My opinion on the door panels, it looks really good, but I would get rid of the woodgrain controls, throws too many different colors into the mix. Either beige or black. Could be chrome too, but that is very hard to do.

It sticks in vinyl very well and I agree with you on the wood grain, it doesn't look in place. What I plan on doing is wrapping in 3m brushed aluminum, should look good.

Door panels at my local junk yard sell for $49 each!

Good job. Reminds me a lot of Kevlo's car.

HOLY RIP OFF! The two near me charge $10. I can get an entire door for $50. Sorry, had to say something.

Brushed aluminum would look good. You could keep it black so it blends in, or try to make it mach the beige so they stand out.

If you are close to me, I have a box full of interior parts, including all 4 black door switch trims if you want them
