2 issues with my heat in the car

1999 nissan maxima and I have 2issues with the heat...

1st problem is my fan does not blow unless the speed setting is on 3 or higher, it will not blow on the 1&2 setting. But after doing some searching and diagnosing I found out it was my blower motor resistor a quick and easy fix.

2nd problem is my heat only blows hot air when I'm driving or just revving the car while parked but if the car is at a steady idle the air comes out cool. I did some searching and couldn't really find a similar situation hopefully someone can help with this.

= LOW COOLANT LEVEL!

The coolant level in the reservoir and be correct but the coolant level in the engine can be low.

You need to take the radiator cap off when the engine is cold and look in the radiator. When cold, the coolant should be all the way to the top.

When the coolant level is just a little bit low, the heater will not throw heat at idle and the engine will not overheat.

BINGO that was the problem! Thanks for all the help....1 more question though while looking in my reservoir I noticed it was dirty the tank and fluid however I cleaned the reservoir with water and a hose about month half ago any ideas??and is it normal to see very few amounts of bubbles in the reservoir not much like blowing threw a straw into a glass of milk but maybe a very small amount of bubbles. The bubbles do not sit on top of the fluid just looks like it is breathing...hopes that makes sense thanks

If you only cleaned the reservoir then that's your problem. The dirt from the rad will still enter. Do a rad flush if you feel you're due for one.
