In the middle of the V.I.N. mounted on the firewall on the passenger side in the engine compartment is either a "V" or "A".

V means LSD
A means one wheel drive

If you have an American (not Canadian) Maxima, you can bet it's an A.

My previous Maxima was an 88 and it had LSD and it climbed through whatever was thrown at it. Through Snow almost like AWD. Fantastic.

What a disappointment the 99 was. Like banana peels unless I put tires that fair very well in the snow. I have Pirelli P7's now. We'll see how they do this Winter.

There's no such thing as one wheel drive. Both wheels drive the vehicle.
The difference is that with limited slip, when one wheel looses grip the other will provide some driving power, verses an open differential where if a wheel looses grip the other one will not provide and driving power.

It's all Marketing Spin and Semantics to me.....

If the one wheel pushing the car loses grip and the other so called "helper" lays down and plays dead.....

That's one wheel drive to me. Especially because it happens when you need the helper most. Lazy sack of.....

I used to put tool boxes in my rear wheel drive cars and vans. Way better than my one wheel drive 4th Gen Maxima.

I haz disappointment.
