I think you guys missed the boat here... "replacing mounts next week"

Soooo.....

Just don't drive the car?

Or drive it like.... a maxima owner, not enthusiast.

Not like you're in the middle of a lemons race or something, why bother?

Run high mileage oil to restore your rubber motor mounts?

I don't see the point in spending the time and money in an attempt to protect something that is going to be replaced next week. They'll last, just take it easy.

The only product I found with a quick Google search that repels oil is this:
http://www.amazon.com/Oleum-274232-N...productDetails

Pretty sure he's talking about making the new mounts last longer.

At any rate fix the leaks or the new ones will fail early as well.

^I see.

Yeah, you're just gonna have to fix that oil leak. If you truly love your Max as much as you say you do, and plan to keep the Max as long as you say you are, then fixing the oil leak is a no brainer and a must do item. If your rear valve cover is leaking, you should have taken care of it a week or two ago when you had your injector replaced....the manifold was off.

that was replaced and so was the uim gasket. if i had the money to fix the oil leak i would do so, it's the timing cover that leaks, my chain rattles and the harmonic balancer wobbles pretty good too. if i were to tear that apart i'd be opening up a huge can of worms and potentially a lot of problems as the motor is high mileage. i'm going to replace the belts soon and with it a new underdrive pulley. moneys tight and i'm doing what i can to keep her on the road.

Since it's the timing cover, only 1 mount is affected, right? That mount shouldn't get any oil dripping on it; typically only the radiator and firewall mounts get oil dripping on them. You can add a barrier to keep the oil away from it, or maybe try the product I suggested earlier. I can suggest a few barriers that are thermal resistant and should be able to repel oil. Additionally, that mount is really easy to replace, so if the new one fails in 2 to 3 years, no biggie, just replace it.
