MAF and intake gasket manifold done- now check engine light

Maybe after 20 years with one car it starts to get ornery. I replaced the intake manifold gasket and MAF. Car worked OK but revs high when the car first starts. Lo and behold yesterday after parking the car and getting ready to go again, my check engine light comes on. Car still doing good on gas and sounds fine with no hesitation. Any insight to what the heck is going on now....

Check the code.

Did you use an OEM MAF?
If not, that's most if not all the problem.

Codes tell me it is the EGR. Last time I cleaned it was in 2011. I was wondering since I changed the intake manifold gasket and the MAF, could something have affected the EGR?

potentially yea... to get to the EGR u have to remove the intake manifold gasket im pretty sure. and since u removed it, its saying "ok u gave me a new part, air flows to intake manifold then when it gets to EGR the sensor is probably saying "clean me too!"

When you put back intake manifold, did you use a new EGR tube gasket? The old gasket might leak, also, make sure that all the hoses, tube are connected. Last time I did it, I missed one small hose that connects to IACV, thrown a AMP sensor code, couldn't figure out what was wrong, took off air box and then found that small hose was not connected, re-connected hose, everything is fine.
