97 GXE Alternating Between 2 Check Engine Codes

Hey there everyone, New guy here. Got a 97 GXE with 220k and have been having an issue with the check engine light coming up with 2 Problem Codes.

The issue is that the codes alternate. I have a check engine light for the EGR Temp Sensor (P1401) and the O2 Sensor (P0130).

I clear the EGR code, light off, light comes back on after driving x amount of miles, O2 Sensor Code appears. Clear O2 Sensor Light, Light Comes on after x amount of Miles. EGR Code.

I Replaced the EGR Temp Sensor From one in the junkyard and cleaned out the Tube that it plugs in since it was clogged.

Have not replaced the o2 Sensor yet but will soon.

Question is why they never appear at the same time? is there something else i should be looking at?

fix the o2 sensor and it probably will go away, EGR is exhaust related, o2 is similar to exhaust.. so i would replace the o2 first and see

They're 2 seperate issues.

So you've cleaned the EGR tube out all the way through? Did you remove the throttle body and clean really good in that area where the EGR gas flows into the plenum? That's where the temp sensor sits. If the EGR isn't flowing, the temp sensor will throw the code. Check the electrical connections, make sure there is no corrosion on the contacts.

P0130 is a circuit malfunction, again check the electrical connections, then replace the sensor.
