Fuse type/Size Question
Fuse type/Size Question
Hello, my 97 nissan maxima is currently in the shop for some body work due to a recent accident. But anyways, I am wanting to hard-wire my GPS using a "Add-a-fuse". I know that you put the original fuse back into the "add-a-fuse" for power source I decide to use (probably license plate light), but I am having trouble finding the correct fuse voltage to put in the other slot for my GPS (Garmin Nuvi 40). Also, does the maxima use mini-blade fuses or ATO fuses?
Thanks for any help!
Thanks for any help!
There are 4 physical sizes of the fuse type used in cars now-a-days - low profile mini, mini, regular and maxi.
Nissan uses the mini fuse that has a size of 10.9mm wide, 3.6mm thick and 16.3mm tall.
It is an ATC fuse, not ATO. An ATO fuse has the little fuse element part open from the bottom. The ATC fuse has the fuse element enclosed. An open fuse element could allow a spark to ignite flammable fumes or start something on fire. I don't know if the mini fuse comes as an ATO or only as ATC like Nissan uses.
