My eBay Y pipe thread

Ok so since I can't find a real good thread about eBay y pipes I figured I'd just make my own.
I recently won one on eBay for 50 dollars shipped to my door. Headers and Y pipe. I figured what the hell. 50 vs 275 for the warpspeed one. Meh I'll give it a go.
The brand name is Manzo. Never heard of them.
http://www.manzousa.com/index.php/pr...-downpipe.html

Packed very well. Welds look good. Couple of shots here.

I'll be installing just the Y pipe to my stock exhaust manifolds. I may try to tackle this today or tomorrow. I'll take pictures of fitment and install.

Hopefully fitment is well. Some need work while others don't.

I don't mind a little fitment issue. A long as its nothing major like cutting and welding. If I can bend and grind something to make it work then I'm ok with it.

AFAIK, the header/ypipe packages are meant to be used together, and won't bolt to stock parts. Good luck.

The Y pipe looks like a stock replacement to me. I'll find out today when I get to it.

Got the Y pipe on. Without the headers it came with. Took a little massaging with the bolt holes. I'll upload pictures in a bit.

Ok. So it took me a while to do this. But it did eventually go on. I had to widen the holes on the pipe for it to fit. It didn't line up but a little prying and drilling out the holes it went in. The seller sent the wrong new nuts for the 6 studs. So I had to go to lowes and get them. No big deal. M10x 1.25 is the thread pitch for the studs if anyone cares. I also had to cut my cat off because the bolts were so rusted that they broke off. So I decided to just cut it off. I'll go to an exhaust shop Monday and have a resonator put in place of it. It's so loud open Y pipe lol.
Is it worth it? IMHO. Yea. It is. If your mechanically inclined and know what to do of stuff doesn't line up correctly. It's close. But it's no bolt up operation. For the 50 dollars I paid for it I say it's worth it. But buy what you want. eBay or warpspeed. It's your choice.
Again. This headers and Y pipe kit I just used the Y pipe out of the kit.

Lucky man! For $50 that's one hell of a deal. Definitely can't complain even with the minor work it took.

It's just too bad deals like this aren't found too often.

i was gonna say there would be a fitment issue, thats why most ppl go with Warpspeed.

Widening bolt holes always help lol.

Nice score man. How does she sound and perform?

I don't mind what I had to go through to put it on. No biggie to me. I was reading some recent threads that people were having problems with warpspeed y pipes having fitment issues. But I don't know that from first hand experience.

Sound. Sounds like ****. I don't have a cat or resonator on it. Just a cheap fart cannon lol. (Came with the car) That will change soon. Gonna put a resonator on it. Get rid of the rasp and some of the loudness.

Performance. It pulls way better past 4k now. Low end didnt seem to change. On the highway at cruising it seems to take less gas to speed up than normal. Maybe it's me. Dunno. But it defiantly feels like it pulls way better.

You definately dont come across those situations every day lol Pretty good when you can get a ypipe basically free by making your money back on the headers and even possibly putting a few bucks profit in your pocket. Good job!

Just FYI for all, he has them posted again with the bid starting at $20 this time with $40 again for shipping.
Guess he's doing one at a time.
It's no warp-y, but the price is right as long as no one tries a bidding war.
$40-60 is good.

I wonder what this means in his posting on ebay:

"NOTE: THIS ITEM IS NOT STREET-LEGAL AND SHOULD NOT BE INSTALLED ON ANY STREET VEHICLES. ITEM IS MEANT FOR OFF-ROAD/TRACK USE ONLY. USER ASSUMES ALL RISK WITH USE OF THIS ITEM."

??

I ran eBay headers and y pipe on my old vq35 swapped 4th gen that ran low 13's. For the price can't go wrong, a lot of other members will disagree but I wasn't about to spend hundreds of dollars, even a thousand on an exhaust setup. Over and above all good budget setup.

So I really hate the sound of the unequal length y pipe. Sounds like a GM 3800 with exhaust. Horrible. So I was talking to a welder buddy of mine at work about modding the ebay Y pipe to make it equal. He said it shouldn't be a problem and he would get back to me on price. :-)

Little update on my exhaust.
You can feel a power difference. Pulls way better up top.
It was loud. I'm not running a cat. Went through 3 different exhaust setups this week.
First was straight pipe to a fart cannon (it was already on the car when I bought it and didn't sound half bad) well that was way to loud and had TONS of rasp.
So I chopped it off and got a thrush turbo muffler. Still rasp city. But quieter.
Ordered a 18in resonator and put it in where the cat went. It didn't seem to do anything.
This morning I got up and went an bought a 25in glasspack. Thrush cherry bomb. 3.5in round body. Cut that short resonator off and stuck the big one one. Huge difference. Lots better sound. Still a little poppy but meh. It's alright.

I ended up doing this a few weeks ago. Learned the primaries are only 2" merging into a 2.25" outlet.

I ended up stepping the ends of the primaries to 2.25 and used a flowmaster 2.25/3" Y-merge. Sounds great and gives it a smooth rwd tone. Goodluck
