Just be careful opening the outer set. They are a pain. As for instructions on getting them off it's pretty self explanatory when you get in the trunk and look at them from inside. There are for hex nuts holding the trunk ones on and four on the outer ones. I don't remember the size offhand though.

OIC. Yup all you have to do remove the backplate of the OEM lens that contains the 3 bulbs and remove the bulbs then you have to unsrew the hex bolts and carefully push the lens from the inside of the trunk outwards. It may take some effort as there is some black silicone sealing the OEM lenses. That stuff gets messy too. There are 3 bulbs. One 1156, one 1157 and one 194 bulbs. You'll have to take them out of the OEM sockets and put them in the harness adaptors provided with the Altezzas. The 1157 are the dual filaments and thus are your brake lights so place them on the top socket if you have a 97-99. The other two essentially go in the other sockets.

You can use the stock ones except for the little 194 bulb. I changed mine out with some red Polargs to give them a deep red color.

Go to the "HOW2" section, then goto "How to Clear Your Taillights"

Follow the instrucitons for removing the taillights, and ignore the rest of it.

How many times a day do I have to type this same message? Christ on a Crutch!

Also, you could have done a search.

Yeah that black sticky stuff is nasty, man! Don't get it on your clothes! You'll have to push like crazy to get the lamp housings out! I found it easier to sit/lie in the trunk and push with my foot (carefully)

I don't think it's that bad. It will just take a little elbow grease.

should I cut the goo as I go along?

are they for both of them? or just the ones on the trunk?

Only the outer lenses. No simple tricks just be sure to push them out evenly and you won't have any problems. The goo will eventually thin out like pulling a slice of pizza from the whole pizza.

you going to paint it black i presume? i think that would look really nice. i know there's a member on the board that did something like that to his altezzas, but he had some sort of black tape i think and not paint.

Push with your foot, then after you push it far enough for someone to get a fingerhold on the ohter side, have a friend on the other side pull as hard as he can.

The black stuff sucks, so make sure to use a knife (a disposable knife you don't care to use again), and cut close to the LENSE, not the body of the car, because you want as little of that black stuff on the lenses as possible while you're heating it up and removing the plastic.

And 11 minutes at 250 degrees in the oven works PERFECTLY, lense side DOWN. I've done this 8 times now, and the plastic itself never melts even a little.

Just use to oven mitts and pry it apart with your hands....it's like butta.

Be careful to pry envenly, and not just one side, or you will snap the plastic on the other end against the backing (you'll see what I mean when you do it)

Hope that helps.

The oven methos is far better than a heat gun, by the way.

Instructions...

1. Put back in box.
2. Ship box back to distributor.
3. Demand refund.

J/K bro.

I acutally think they'll look pretty good on a White Max, but I'd still never buy them.

Oh well...to each his own.

I changed my tail lights couple weeks ago. That black stuff is sticky and nasty. Had to use gasoline to get it off. Have fun.

I knew you or Sprintmax would have something like this to say!

By the way, are you painting the outer lenses themselves? I wonder how that looks...and how it's done? I just got a set myself cos I screwed up my red/clears.

i just installed a set altezzas on a friends white 97 max... the outsides were definitely a pain to get out. i had him push on the black plastic piece from inside while i pulled from the outside, and it worked that way.. also the closed end nuts on the ones on the trunk.. the screw is longer on the altezza than on the stock one and shince it isnt an open ended bolt like the rest of them, i put a few small washers under the bolt so it would tighten... if you dont understand email me @ joes95max@aol.com

Mine have stayed nice and dark red. No fading at all. From what I hear also you could try LEDs they won't fade.

So do these look as red as the taillights themselves? I just my altezza's on (Sterling Mist, looks sweet) and the 194R lamps I got from Trash Auto look more pink than red. I'm all over these if they really are RED.

Thanks for the hook up if they work right!

the guy printed them out with the circles already made the right size that i wanted... i was thinking of an idea for you though last night while i was trying to fall asleep lol... take something like the lid of a coffee can, something the right size... use something to stick it to the lense.. paint around it and take off the coffee can lid and you will have a perfect circle
