Maxima A/C compressor cycle.

I was wondering does the Maxima compressor always stay on or is suppose to cycle on and off?

On cars with the auto climate controls, it runs all the time.

On cars with the manual controls, I'm pretty sure it is also on all the time.

If I'm not mistaken, those with auto climate ... with the ECON mode selected, the compressor will cycle. With AUTO selected, it runs all the time.

95 through 98 will cycle to maintain evaporator temperature.
The 99 model will run constantly and modulate the system pressure with a TXV to maintain evaporator temperature.
