Overdrive button
Overdrive button
The OD button sometimes doesn't work when pressed unless I keep pushing it and pushing it and then it shows up on the dash. When starting car it works just fine but after awhile you need to push it over and over to get to work. I don't use it but why is it doing it?
You can remove the overdrive switch from the shift lever and the overdrive is on. The contacts in the switch have to be closed to turn off overdrive.
Isn't overdrive when the torque converter goes into lock-up mode. That's done by the overrun clutch?

When I want overdrive off it doesn't work unless I push button about 10 or so times. When I start car though it works but then after awhile it won't unless I push 10 or so times
At, say, a steady 50 mph, when you press your OD button does the trans shift up or down and then when you press it again, does it shift back up or back down?
Is your OD button not properly controlling the trans or is it just that your OD dash indicator lamp is not working?
I'm asking this again based on your statements (twice) that "when you start the car the button works fine". The only thing you can determine having just started the car (car is sitting at idle) is if the dash indicator light works. You can't deterine if your OD is actually functioning unless the car is in motion and has been through all of it's gears.
