Blue Bulb Dome light question?

Hey, I just got some blue bulbs for the interior dome light on my 96 SE, i Was wondering, I wanted to change out the light too between the passenger and driver (the one you click with a button), i wanted to make it blue to match, does anyone know whether the dome light bulb will also fit that bulb, and how do I remove the dome light houseing or the other light housing. Please knowleadgeable responses only, thanks.

Re: Blue Bulb Dome light question?

Those lights (called map lights) are a different bulb. They will be very hard to find a blue color, and really pointless because you need atleast 1 white light in your car, right? I know its cool and all, I have a red dome light, trunk light, step lights and license plate lights, but do you really want to make your map lights blue? You wouldn't be able to read stuff at night when you reall need to. But to each his own . To remove the dome light, look at the clean plastic towards the switch. There are 2 little crevices bit enough the put a flathead screwdriver into. Do so, and then pry it out. Should come out extremely easily and quickly. Then you just pull out the old bulb and stick in the new one. Same instructions go for the map lights when you want to change them.

i agreee with vyrus.....you should keep that map light white......it really does come in handy.....unless u want to get a light that gives off a slightly blue tinted light, then i guess its ok

But when you unlock the car you don't get a red glow from inside

Well, it would never be red anyway (I sorta hate red), but I like to be able to see into my car before I get in, plus with the tint on the windows, blue doesn't show through too much anyway. I bought another dome light socket and when I get around to it I will install 6 Super Bright Blue LED's so it will be as bright, just in blue...when I want to set the mood, the map light is all I need. Nobody ever sits in the back anyway, so the dome light is my more "usuable" light.

To access the bulb, just stick a flat screwdriver in the little slot under the lens and pry it out. Don't try to use a knife (like my dad did) or a key (like I did) or you will scratch it up like mine is.

If you can't find a blue bulb I have an extra one around, I'll hook you up. It's painted, and is a lighter blue than the dome light, but it shouldn't fade much. I have had mine in for several months.

Like everyone says, it's not as bright as the white, and makes it a little harder to read maps.

Whats the problem here people? If you wanna read something, just use the vanity light that is on teh sun visor. It works even better than the map light anyways!

I have always done that. I actually found a blue bulb for my dome light (most blue ones show up white). I still have not done the mod yet but I still plan to.

i want to make my map light blue to match the blue dome light.
i use a small bright white LED flashlight if i need white light. no biggie.

and i have the step/courtesy light as red LED, and LED 12" tubes under the dash to light up the foot area. so its red on the bottom of the car inside and blue up top. and i have blue LED door handles.

i dunno. personally i wanted to just complete the blue and have more blue by doing it with the map lights too.
