p0340

Hello!

I have a p0340 code. I have checked for a blown fuse under the hood (something like ECC2) - looks good. I disconnected the plug from the camshaft position sensor, and attempted to test for continuity, but did not have any luck. I pressed the black lead to the engine block and the red lead to terminal #2 in the plug, but did not hear any noise!

This leads me to believe there is an issue with the wiring - any guidance you can provide on how to diagnose that aspect would be appreciated, or if you have other ideas on what may be wrong that would be appreciated as well.

Thanks!

Download the FSM. They will walk you through troubleshooting your DTC. Search on this forum as several members have links to it in their signatures or Google clubnico of clubniko you will find it there as well.

Thanks M in KC - I do have the FSM and am working through the options.

So far I have been able to confirm that the harness plug is functional and that the camshaft position sensor itself is functional. That leaves the starter motor and starting system circuit to explore. It has been noted to me earlier by a mechanic that my flywheel is missing teeth - could this possibly explain the code p0340?

Thanks! I do search the forums as well, but have found that my questions get resolved more efficiently when starting new threads as well
