Need Help!

I got a 1997 Nissan Maxima GXE. it doesn't start. its been awhile since I touched and troubleshoot any car. I can get the car to crank over if I add power directly to the starter. it will not turn on if I go from the key (ignition switch). Dash lights don't turn on, fuel pump don't turn on, etc. Head lights do turn on and the guage cluster backlight turns on, but that's it. I think its the ignition switch but I want to get some feedback before I spend more money on this car. if you got any ideas, please list it and I will cross off the list.
thanks in advance for all the help!

Ignition switch. Common problem. Not hard to change. Not expensive. Do a search on this forum. Pictures and instructions provided.

should be something fairly simple, like he said ^, try that, its the cheapest one and common to fail just from wear. don't go out and start replacing the expensive stuff first. or something that doesn't even relate to the problem..

Update: checked all the fuses again and all is good. Changed out the ignition switch and don't start. Also no ignition on, no start. No power to the ignition switch. Any ideas??

What are you trying to say? What you said is absolutely true.

The ignition switch should have 12 volts on one of the wires all the time. Check the IGN SW fuse (30 amp) that is under the hood between the battery and the fender.
