Considering the age of the car, you might have a light bulb instead of an led.

Easier to just replace the switch, but many have soldered in new LEDs.
Amerikaner here on the org will do it for a fee. |
I did all of my switches and dash stuff about 2 months ago. The hardest part was just figuring out which bulbs I needed. I used these because I liked the clean white look:
RL3-W6045: White 3mm LED https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...-6000-mcd/302/ If you don't know how to check, look online to see how to know the polarity and look at the existing LED's so that you don't have to redo it. But essentially. You pry out the window switches. Take them apart. unsolder the old ones and solder in the new ones. The driver side door is the easiest. its a direct replacement. The other 3 doors, your going to have to kinda scrape off the old SMD Led and cut the prongs extremely short on the new 3mm LEDs so that that fit under the switch. Also, there are 4 contact points so you have to choose the 2 points diagonal from each other that will complete the circuit. When you pull them apart, you'll see what I mean. If you PM me your Cell # I can text you pictures to explain it better. I took pictures of a step by step because I was thinking of doing a How-To. |
theres a write up on how to do these somewhere.

I changed all my interior lights to red leds a year or so back. I didn't do the solder thing, instead, I found there was enough room to place an extra LED in the space below the switch. I put one LED on three of the doors, and 4 on the drivers door. Everything lights up great, nice and even.
I wired them up to the switch illumination wires, so they dim like the stock ones. Using the FSM, I found out there are two wires that only control the switch LEDs. The back doors are not so easy, I had to run a separate wire. The bcm sends a signal to turn on the LED on the back doors. The front doors are wired separate as to allow them to dim with the dash lights (which is a great little touch). Piece of tape over the stock LED and green becomes red. |
