i know you need to loosen the center pulley on one and use the top **** to move it. My question is how do you tighten the belt near the firewall.

I thought I saw another tightening **** near the 11 O'clock position similar to the alternator one.

If you're talking about the power steering belt, there is a bolt on the back side of the bracket that the whole assembly slides up and down on. I had to put my car up on jack stands and go at with some extensions and a universal joint to reach it from below and behind. It's kind of a PITA to do. If you can borrow a service manual from a friend or even the library, it will show you pictures and guide you through it, as it's almost impossible to describe without actually having you see it.

I agree. Even with the pictures it is still a bit of a pain to find it. Invest in the 15 bucks for the book. It comes in very handy when you need it. But also when removing the belts the bolt you (un)screw comes down in a bracket. Make sure to keep the bolt in that bracket or else the pulley will not drop down to loosen the belt.

If you look closly at the Haynes pic, it shows the Y pipe removed. Although I didn't have my car on lifts, it still didn't seem as though a lift would get me in there. I had to call it quits on trying to change my power steering belt until I got it on lifts or come here for some tips.

Guys, help me on this steering belt. I don't have problems

with the alternator belt. The power steering belt

is the one that I can't replace. To be specific,
I did loosen the nuts that are visible from the
left front tire side. However the power steering
is still snug and won't come down.

Is there another nut holding this unit in place?

thanks...
