I am NEW and need help with mods!!

OK guys,
I want a new muffler but I don't know what to get.
Does it have to have hangers or not? And will a intake help with that horse power
, Plus I need to know this for sure, will a cluster out of a 97 SE fit in a 96 SE!!!!!!!Is a y-pipe worth it or not? Would really like your info. Thanks

Welcome to the .org

Muffler...stillen s/s is a clean looking stainless steel one. Yes, hangers are what keep it on!

Why would you want a '97 cluster on a '96 SE Don't you already have the white gauges ? If the '97 is analog odometer than it'll fit

Y-pipe is the best bolt-on performance mod for our car, hands down. Expect anywhere from 15-25HP to the wheels.

Now don't get too hyped up about these mods. A Y-pipe, or any bolt-on for that matter won't give you a magical performance gain. The Y gives a nice hard pull. If it is a drastic change you want supercharge your max. That'll make you soil yourself good.

you need hangers, all catback systems have everything (Apex, Greddy, Stillen), a muffler shop should be able to do a custom muffler.

Intake will help, a CAI, or the JWT or Stillen are all decent, I have a weapon R, it is ok, but you can spend less money on something just as good.

A y-pipe will be your biggest HP gains, if I has to do it over I would go with a Warpspeed Y (have it), RT cat (have it), a courtesy B pipe (have apex catback), and keep the stock muffler. Y with catback is a little too loud and I think it is cheaper and just as much power with the B and stock muffler.

a good set up to start with would be Intake,y-pipe, exhaust. THe Y-Pipe is by far the best mod for the Max though. (other than SC and NOS) At first I had a Place Racing CAI and felt like my Max had no power at all up top so I switched to a pop charger (Weapon R Dragon Intake) and gained back the top end power, lost a little low end but not much. Then I added the Warpspeed Y-Pipe and felt a big difference in performance. The Max seems to breath a better and definetely pulls a lot harder. Exhaust doesnt really do much so just get a cheaper cat-back and an OBX muffler or something like that. Hope this helps. Take Care

not sure if you were asking this question to me or not but if you were: It sounds really good, A nice deep tone to it not to loud at all even with the y-pipe. Sounds good, I have a custom cat-back with OBX muffler. I like it!
