I was an nsa agent until november of 2014 and i can confirm that is an nsa device. They only used them if they thought you were an immediate threat to national security. Drive the car to a location that can't be traced back to you and burn it to get rid of any trace evidence you may have left behind you do not!! Want this getting traced back to you

I understand that some car dealers install tracking devices which will help them locate a car if the buyer defaults on payment. The units would either help them locate the car for the repo man, or even disable the car.
If you have title to the car and own it free and clear, you should be free to remove it.
If you are financing this car, think twice about removing it.
Or perhaps remove it anyway, then claim ignorance if something comes up.

I know its either an amp which the wiring throws me off or GPS of some type. I didn't wan't it to be some factory box that controlled the ignition or something... I had to pay $220 for a tow and new key and programmed from nissan and don't want that to happen again. When I pull the stereo ill see if its hooked in the wiring harness. I'll unhook and throw in the mighty mississippi river just in case the feds are on to my shift pattern... I like to rev to 5500 on a regular basis.. I'll try to get a couple more pics to show you guys. Could be aliens also , I was thinking about that trying to get 4 gauge wire through the firewall.

A google search for "Audiovox C1000" brings up GPS navigation system and power amplifier.

If it was possible in 2f2f that the lancer and eclipse were wired then it's possible to get a box that is able to trace all your where abouts. I know new gm cars have on star that's as close as any live tracking device gets.

Again, it probavly REALLY IS a tracking device. Put there by a lender somewhere in the cars past.
Tracking abilty at the very least, and shut down capability perhaps.
If you are making payments to a lender, you might consider leaving it hooked up. If not, dispose of it as you wish.

Yeah I'm not sure what that is but it definitely seems like it could be a tracking device. The device was registered with the FCC in 1992, so odds are it's not GPS. Since it has an FCC ID that means it utilizes RF in some way... Apparently it puts out 3 watts at 850mhz:

That's a lot of juice. I believe that 1 watt is the limit for 2.4ghz wireless devices before requiring special permission from the FCC... Mind you this was registered in 1992, so I dunno.
But yeah... I'm going with tracking device. Lojack???
