Help!!!
Hey what's up guys. Well I've had the most ****tiest 3 weeks of my life. I have a 4th generation 1999 Nissan maxima. It will only run on starter fluid, if I stop spraying it stops running. Fuel pump good, fuses good, injectors at 12v, fuel all the way up to the rail but I don't believe my injectors are spraying to keep the car running. Help please I've put so much money into this car and I don't want to burn my pockets anymore until I can get this problem diagnosed. So please guys help me out if you can.

The Wizard is pointing you at the first place I'd look as well!
Look up NATS problems with the 99 models. If you try to start your car 4 or 5 times and it doesn't start with the door open, The NATS locks you out. No pulse at the fuel injectors. Solid red security light while starting is highly indicative. Dealer or Top Locksmith fix only.

And one reason to keep a spare chip key for your 99 model handy. If the key chip goes out the car will not start and you will eventually immobilize the car via NATS. That requires a NATS reprogram to match the new OEM key by a dealer. Few locksmiths have the software to reset NATS on a 4th gen. 5th gen and later doesn't face the same challenges with locksmiths.

Somewhere I got the impression that in order to program keys on a 99, you need a cable to connect to the CONSULT port. With 2000 and on, you connect to the OBD port as there in no separate CONSULT port. I don't know if the software would have to be different for this.

That's it in a shell. It takes the gray 14pin consult plug and specific software that understands the car's LAN to really communicate with the NCU, and others before 2000.
