Odd Sound from driver side front wheel

First this was a grinding, sksssh sound. I bent back the dust shield with a pry bar and now there's this sound. Has anybody had this, or any ideas on what it might be? too hot outside to take off the caliper, but maybe a frozen piston?

The rotor is rubbing on the bottom of the dust shield. You bent it too far.

Ah, I see. I'll have another look at that shield. Thanks.

Don't just use your eyes. Experement by using your other senses.

Like if you were to touch the bottom of the dust shield while you turn the rotor, you would feel the vibration as it rubs against the rotor.

Then as you bend the dust shield away from the rotor, you will not feel or hear the rubbing any more.

JvG,

Thanks; the sensory advice was just what I needed.
