Interior LED Power Spots?

Edit: didn't realize most people just used the fuses as power source

I have a lot of experience soldering and I ordered 8 30piece led strips off ebay. I used a cpl different style led bulbs in the gauges but too hot spotty for me so I'd like to use a strip or two for even lighting I just need somewhere near or on the gauges for power. I also wanted to put some under the dash, any other ideas for spots? They are waterproof btw

Are you planning on putting them on their own switch or did you want them to light up with your headlight switch? There is an open BATTERY spot on the fuse panel under the driver side dash. You can also run a wire to the fuse block under the hood. There is ample room to run another wire through the rubber grommet through the firewall.
Or you can run a hot wire straight from the battery.

If you do any of these things, be sure to use a fused circuit. Straight from any power source, I would think a 10 Amp fuse would be sufficient for running LED's.
If you are putting them on their own separate switch, do yourself a favor and do not run the hot wire to the switch. Run the ground. It will keep you from shorting out your positive leads in case of contact with the frame. If there does happen to develop a ground in the switch, you will be able to tell by the lights coming on for no reason and not pop your fuse or start a fire inadvertently.

You can also run the lights off of your dimmer switch for your dash lights, which is what I did when I put LED's in my handles and vents. Gives more control over the intensity in the car..

Hot wire = positive wire?
