Engine Cradle Difference Auto vs Manual Question
Engine Cradle Difference Auto vs Manual Question
The 97 model SE 5MT came with a couple of stripped bolt holes on the engine cradle. Actually, it had more than a couple. So we came about a nice engine cradle from an Automatic to use for restoring this part of the car.
I remember KP11520 noting the engine cradle/suspension cross-member (e.g the one I like to call a sub-frame) use different part numbers between automatic and manual.
In checking Courtesy Parts site, I found the Automatic part number is 54400-40U00. The manual is part number 54400-41U00. There are different part numbers between the Automatic and Manual.
Sometimes the different part number suffix means nothing when sometimes it matters.
I see posts and instructional information about people who have converted automatics to manual transmissions. I can't find a mention of the engine cradle being different or causing a problem with an automatic to a manual transmission conversation.
Does anybody know the difference between parts 54400-40U00 and 54400-41U00?
Here's a picture of the part below.
