is there a better gear out there like a 3.73 for a maxima. i have a 96 auto but still want to upgrade. any better suggestions for gear ratios and where to find would be most helpful.
thanks

The Maxima is a front wheel drive car with a transaxle and no rear differential. You cannot change the gear ratio in an auto transaxle. Your thinking of ring and pinion ratios. 3.73s are popular in mustang rears.

Just about any rear wheel drive car has options for final drive ratio's. Which gear set depends on the car and what it will be used for.
