Rollin' on 18's! What Do You Think?

Hey Everyone,

I will be picking up a 1998-99 Maxima SE soon when my lease is up (on a ****ter). Anyway, I've owned a 93 SE and LOVED it. I had a few questons on first mods.

First Mods: I want to get Enkei RS6's (18's) with about a 1.5 - 2.0 Drop.

I never dropped a car before and would like to do it myself.

Also, I am willing to sacrifice bumps for handling & looks. Anybody roll on 18's? If so, what is a better size tire to get 225/40/18 or 235/40/18? Is there really a ride difference between the two?

B&G springs seem like the springs to grab. Anybody ride with stock shocks and a lowered car?

Thanks guys...

I got 18" Momo Arrows, Dropped with H&R's and Tokico's. I'm replacing my Tokico's with KYB AGX's though. I have 235/40/18 Pirelli P7000 Supersports and overall i'm very happy with the setup.

If you go much over 1.5" on your drop, you'll need stuts too.

I like the rims. I would recommend AGX struts and sprint springs for the 2" drop that will make it look nice. you want a nice firm low ride then this is the way to go. If you have more money to play with then get the groudcontrol coilovers.

I have Enkei NT03's with 235/40/18 Nitto NT555s. Everyone hit the main points, but you may want to think about
1) How much the wheels weigh (mine weigh in at around 20lbs)
2) How much tires cost (my last set was $740)
3) How good of a ride you want (I'm getting B&G/AGXs to keep some ride quality)

I swap out my 18"s and 16"s pretty often and I notice that my 18"s feel a lot more stable at high speeds, while my 16"s feel a lot more stable on wet surfaces.

Aside 19's or 20's, those 18' Enkei's (RS6) are the best rims that give off a "bigger rim" effect due to the fact the spokes extend to the edges. I think they weigh 19 or so.

I'm getting them for 170.00 ea. Tires (Nitto 555) are 129.00 each.

I've always liked Enkei.

I have the rs6 with khumos. 225/40/18 with eibach springs on stock struts. the ride is kind of stiff but more like a road hugging kind of ride, not a bad suspension ride. once you get those on your max they will look tight but get the springs first.

I can't stress this enough.....watch them potholes!!!

Other than that, 18's are great. Stiffer than stock but worth it.
