Q for people who have gone 140mph

when you hit 130mph did it feel like you hit a wall in terms of the car stops pulling a little... then it kinda breaks through and pulls hard to 140ish. I'm just curious if it is just my car.

this is kinda OT, but didn't a piece of windshield trim fly off the last time you broke the 'speed barrier' ?

You got a test pipe Sprint? I might consider a test pipe later on, the RT cat doesn't do a darn thing. I noticed absolutely no gains whatsoever.

I dont get any sort of "breakthrough." I hit a wall at about 130, and it's slow going from there on up.

But, 4th gear for me is way taller than your 5th. If I remember, redline in 5th gets you 157mph. Redline in 4th for me would be 185mph.

I pull hard all the way up 128 - 130 then hit the wall thereafter. It just takes time from there depending on the wind, grade etc. Stable as hell though.

My max pulls pretty strong up to 140. However, this is my first time that one of my vehicles can go that fast. My indication of how fast it pulls to 140 is only that so take it as you will.

is your 4th gear "overdrive"? don't think our engines have enough torque to pull that hard at that speed...unless heavily modified. correct me if i'm wrong.

0-130 mph is strong, 130+ is more of a creep. . .have lots-a road ready. My accelleration seems pretty consistent after the 130 "wall." I don't experience any kind of "peak" like you described.

(5-speed, K&N panel filter, otherwise stock - 143 mph)

Yes it does hit a wall at first. Seriously drive that speed more and more and it will be easier to get to. The ECU will "remember" what settings it needs to be at to obtain it.

Yeah 4th gear is overdrive and acceleration up there is pretty weak. It's all gravy up to the moment you see illustrated in my sig pic (redline in 3rd)...

Sometimes its slow for me to get from 130 to 140. Other times, usually when I'm not paying attention to the speedo and my eyes are glued to the road, I'm at 140 before I even know it. I look down and I'm like "damn!"

you are not faster when your engine is blown up.

And please could you tell us your rims size because this will really effect that ?

5000 rpms , automatic tranny , NA = no supercharger or NOS , 18's but with 40 series tires so the diameter is as close as possible, but there will be some error

I was one of the first to ask you about it. Why?, Because I am very intrested in it if I see that people who are doing this are hiotting gains that I feel will be usefull to me. I mean if they only place that gains are shown is 100 - 140 mph then I will not find myself buying one. But If I see that they are giving gains on more usefull parts in the power band then I will get one. Also I was waiting on installation costs etc. I mean if it was gonna be 600 for one then another large sum to install and setup then I might reconsider. I have many views that I was looking at regarding the mod.

So no I dont just talk, I do buy but I dont see myself throwing money away if I am about to gain nothing from it. And when I do buy I do it in rashes. Such as how last time it was Clear corners, STS, Front Strut Bar, cone filter etc, redline tranny fluid etc. So it doesnt seem to me that I just sit around talking and not trying but I want to make sure what I do get is going to be worth it.
