KYB warranty
KYB warranty
Hey guys. I opened up the boxes for my NEW AGX's
. Anyway, I looked at the KYB literature and it said that it can severely affect the operation of the shocks/struts and POSSIBLY damage them if the car is lowered. I was going to put H&R lowering springs on my car at the same time I put the KYB's on. But I wanted your input. The KYB's are designed for cars at stock height. Will the lowering springs really harm and shorten the life of the KYB's?

Don't worry about it. The drop on these struts will NOT harm them because that is what they are basically designed to do. If you install them correctly, then you shouldn't have to worry about any blowing out on you. Mine haven't and I have 8k on them with B&G Springs. Good luck.

quit the PW huh? and giving good info wow.. what year is your car?

And no lowering your car will not hurt. lowering your car by heating/cutting the springs. and as long as it's not dropped like in the dirt it will be fine. check camber just to be sure

The KYB lifetime warranty states that the car cannot be lowered more then 1.5 inches. H&R's only lower 1.3 or 1.4 inches. So your fine with those springs. Any lower and KYB will not honor the warranty.

Example: If you hit a nice dip in the road with lowering springs, those springs will push up (force) very hard to keep the car from bottoming out. That force must be controlled (struts) in order to maintain ride comfort. The lower the spring, the more spring force is needed to keep your cars suspension from bottoming out.
And, they can tell what your ride height is by looking at the piston to see where the ware took place.
