rpm tachometer scoring wrong

I live in Brazil, I bought a 1995 nissan maxima, the rev counter is wrong, the rpm is locked at 3,000 rpm, sometimes it is locked at 1,000 rpm, I took off the panel, cleaned it, tightened the screws and nothing, contained the same.

My tach does similar things.

There is a repair I've done for the speedometer.
I think a similar repair works for the tach.

the mounting screws transmit vibration. There are soldered areas on either side of the screw. The solder can crack. Which causes problems. I touched a soldering iron to each side of the sokderd areas I mentioned . Till the solder melts.

My speedometer worked fine after that.
Try to fix your tach that way. Please let us know if the repair works.

I feel that the tachometer measures electrical resistance. A bad solder joint would create resistance of its own. So the tach would indicate the solder joint resistance it's measuring.

So if you melt the solder where I told you to, the
false resistance reading would go away. Your tach would work again.

You asked for advice. I'm telling you a repair which fixed a very similar issue. You can ignore my advice of course. I've owned my car for 16 years. I've worked on cars for 50 years. Perhaps you know more than I do.

Please remove the tachometer
send me a photo of its circuit board where the bolts go which attach it to the instrument panel.

the actual repair is on the tachometer circuit board on both sides of the bolt holes.

The actual tach repair:

1. Look at the tach circuit board. Notice where the holes for the mounting screws are. There are solder joints on each side of the screws.

2. Touch the soldering the tip of a soldering iron till the solder melts. Allow them to cool.

Then reassemble everything.

That does not look like the way the circuit board is set up on the speedometer. So sorry. My guess work did not work out for you.
