Flexplate/flywheel questions manual trans swap
Flexplate/flywheel questions manual trans swap
Hey friends,
I am getting ready to do an auto to 5spd swap on my i30. I have all the parts but the flex plate and flywheel. I am having issues finding these parts. Is the ring gear part of the flex plate? The pictures and diagrams seem like the flywheel is separate from the flex plate and ring gear.
Does anyone have suggestions on where to buy these parts or a part number. I looked at Rockauto and can find flywheels but not the flex plate/ring gear.
Thank you

Where did you get the transmission, from a Maxima or from another Infiniti? Can you go back to that car and get the flywheel?
(I have 273k miles on my I30 now, and the manual transmission is going out so I'm looking for a donor to get a used transmission)

Flexplate = Automatic transmission
Flywheel = Manuel Transmission
What you are looking for is a Flywheel... I had luck calling a junk yard to get mine and had it resurfaced at the machine shop. I was able to buy it complete that way with ring gear and tone ring. It was less than $50
Below is a Link to an old For sale thread I had some years ago with pictures of those exact parts for your reference, all of them.
In pic 2 you will also need that spacer plate which (Cup side faces out toward clutch) along with the crank bolts and pressure plate bolts all pictured their.
