I'm curious if it's affected by engine temperature, speed ect. at all.

Mine is connected into the tubing going from the MAF sensor to the throttle body...

 

In all honest, the thing dont do $hit!!! My boy had his laying around in his engine bay and it didnt effect his car at all.
On the 95-96 they are on the factory air-box on the side at the top, 97-99 they are on the back of the tube that leads into the bottom of the stock air box.
