My moonroof has developed a rattle, and I'm pretty sure it comes from the the spring loaded wind deflector that goes up when you open the sunroof. Probably the springs on the deflector have worn out. When the roof is fully open, if I go over a bump, it rattles. If I have the roof open in tilt mode, it really rattles, so much so that after I fully tilt it open, I slightly close it so that the front part of the moonroof rests slightly on the deflector.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get rid of that rattle?? I guess I can remove the deflector altogether and install one of those exterior ones, but I like an un-cluttered roofline. Also, if I remove the deflector, but don't replace it with anything, how windy will it get for me?? Has anyone done that? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

my suggestion:

slick-50 (or the likes) around the spring and spray the plastic trim.
