Any auto's ever race a Spev V Sentra?

A friend of mine just got a 2002 Spec V Sentra, and he wants to run me. I rode with him wone time it and it seems to have a lot of torque, but his 1st gear is really short. I was just wondering, he being an average driver, and myself being magically automated, what are my chances of pulling ahead? Good, Bad? His 1st gear will end when my 1st is 'opening'(~3500+rpm)So when he is shifting to 2nd, I may be able to pull ahead,,?,,

you'd probably have a better chance from a roll.

Yeah, I really freak on how on a roll I can kill a lot of cars from a roll that I can't from a dead... it's kewl though.

I raced one the other day on the highway, from around 25-80 (we were at a stop light and when it turned green we just pulled off normally and then I looked over and he was motioning me to race so I did, and I beat him by about a car. I dont know how it would have gone from a stop. Take Care

the v-spec's have a 2.5-liter DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder engine, 175 hp @ 6,000 rpm, 180 lb-ft of torque @ 4,000 rpm......not as powerful as the max, but i guess the weight difference (300lbs lighter) makes up for it........my money goes to da max

friend has a spec v and is an average driver(16 years old)and ran a 15.59 stock and 15.4 with intake. it should be close but you should take him with some mods, if you have any.

Interesting.

When downloading that video, I fail at 36% whether downloading straight into WMP or just downloading the file alone.

Weird......

The one I test drove was pretty fast. I'm a pretty good manual driver and from my experience, the Sentra spec V takes a little more skill to launch. The differential helps, but I got quite a lot of wheel spin from launching at 2,400 RPM. I felt that the Spec V I was driving was pretty darn fast, but not as fast as my 5-speed 97 Maxima. Ogredave knows how fast my car launches, but I'm not sure if mine is especially fast or not. I have the usual bolt-ons, but have the Wilwood brake kit, SSR Integrals, and a UDP so I've really taken off a lot of rotational mass. I'd like to take a run in the Sentra again...lots of fun!!!!

Yeah, that's a cool video. S*** dog that's a Sentra . I owned a 92 Sentra SeR and loved it. I was really looking forward to this new one. It got several great write-ups in the press until the last most recent one in SCC where they blasted it. They also stated that the power rating was grossly overstated. I think it claims 170 and only has like 140 at the wheels? Either way it was nice to see a Sentra hanging.

It started at about 70 mph and when I started passing him it was about 120ish. I ran all the way to about 140 .

Thanks tai mu shu

And maxima gtr

They are fast.. The guy is actually a member of a sentra forum and is really cool. Honestly I would not want to race one if I were stock.

And if it's from a red light you are going to have a serious problem if he can drive a 5-speed.

But that's why we race right? No matter what numbers say... anything can happen. take a video camera too!!!

after reading the article in ssc i'm not impressed with the spec v. they only got 140 bhp to the wheels. sorry, but that's kinda shabby.. especially for being .5L bigger than the sr20. wouldn't you say?

Just 2 questions.... Torque to weight ratio??

HP to weight ratio?
