Flywheels on autos?

I was talking to a guy tonight that said it was possible to install a flywheel on an automatic transmission. Is this true, because I thought they were only for manual transmissions? Can anyone answer this question? Thanks.

Automatic transmissions do contain a flywheel.

As quoted from Stillen catalogue...

With reduced weight (stock is 17.5lbs., this beauty weighs in at just over 13lbs.), less power is needed to overcome Flywheel inertia. The result is a quicker revving motor. The Maxima's stock Flywheel is essentially the automatic's torque converter plate with weights added and is not ideally suited for performance applications. Uses the factory timing ring/gear from stock unit.

Applications:
95-01 Nissan Maxima (Manual Transmissions Only ), Part #451065
96-99 Infiniti I30 (Manual Transmissions Only ), Part #451065

This is the 2002 catalogue and was mailed to me Feb 7, 2002
