Are '97 and '99 Y-pipes compatible? >>

I need to know if it is possible for me to swap on a '99 y-pipe to my '97. My current y-pipe has a puncture in the flex section due to road debris...

Thanks
Al

Bump and rant:

I find it hilarious that there can be a thousand replies to a post about who's HID kit is more blue and more purple, and which 1157 bulb best matches the headlamps, while serious questions, can be left untouched.

Not positive, but I think they are interchangable. I think you'd have a problem going from a 99 to a 95-96, but I think you'll be ok. Check warpspeedperformance.com and see if they sell different y-pipes for 97 Maximas and 99 Maximas. I'm pretty sure they sell the same one for both.

Is the 99 Fed Spec or Cali?

If its fed spec, then yes, they are interchangable. O2 sensors are the same and so are flange/bolt positions and sizes.

If the 99 is Cal spec, then no, they are totally different pipes.

P.S. -- I've put a 99 Fed Spec Y-pipe on a 97. No problems.

Cattman's using one part number for 95 to 99 y-pipe.

Again, be careful. Fed Spec 99's and Cal spec 99's have a different part number.

To tell if you're fed spec look in front of the valve cover..if you have 2 plugs, fed, if you have 4 plugs, cal.

Albertt I agree that MANY informational posts/questions get passed over in favor of which bulb or intake to buy. It seems that unless you're doing a SC or turbo project you're just not important enough
ejj what plugs are you talking about on the valve cover?
