Stock GT's ??

What do stock GT's run in the 1/4 mile ?? I figure they run about 14.4, witch means you will be able to run with one with just a Cold Air and a Y-Pipe,(15.1 stock, 14.9 Cold air, 14.5 Y-pipe) 5 spd of course ?? Please clarify it for me

What 'GTs' are you talking about?

Ford Mustang GT?
Toyota Celica GT?
Mitsubishi Eclipse GT?
Pontiac Grand Prix GT?
Subaru Legacy GT?
Ferrari 456GT?

I know you're probably talking about the Ford, but not everyone else will. Just gotta be more specific, y'know? 'GT' is getting to be too generic of a designation.

I was thinking the same thing. Sunfire GT maybe? MX6 GT? Ford Probe GT? There's alot of GTs out there bud.

I saw this guy run 14.1 in a stock 2001 Mustang GT, he also claimed he ran 13.9 the week before.

When you say newer do you mean 94-98 style or 99+ style. 94-95 5.0 5 speed will run 15.0 give or take a few tenths. 96-98 4.6 will run 14.8-14.9 give or take a few. 99+ 4.6 will walk all over you and run 14.1 give or take a few tenths.

The 94/95's have always been regarded as the slowest years. Even in mustang forums etc. I dont know why that is though. But you can run a GT from those years almost in your stock form depending on the driver.

The V8 in the M*stang GT's for those two years had 215 hp at 4200rpm and 288 torque at 3300 rpm, i.e., good low-to-mid range power. Look out for the V8 they put in the M*stang Cobra from '96 on: a LOT more power than the base GT V8. It's funny: so many forums for different makes of cars, foreign and domestic, have discussions on whether or how one can beat a M*stang GT in a race. You either love 'em or hate 'em. I wouldn't play with one in my stock GXE automatic, but if some clown in a GT thinks he can take me in my '72 442 then he has a wicked surprise coming.

Motor Trend got a 6.7 0-60 out of the last 5.0s(94-95), but only got a 7-flat out of the first 4.6 V8s. Pathetic. It's good that Ford straightened themselves out.

Sorry but the catback on a Mustang GT or Cobra does nothing for power. Just sound. I had a flowmaster 2-chamber on my 96. It sounded mean but was the same power. When I had my 96GT stock in NC I beat a 5-spd 96 SE from the light to about 90mph.

It really comes down to the driver. Today I was toying with a convertible 2001 GT on the Mass pike and kept with him till traffic slowed us down from 100. I think his was an auto. Get him on a rolling high rpm start and you should hang closely. It was fun and I could tell he was getting ****ed after a while. No wave goodbye at the end. Wimp. Peace: e3 - spamman

I have raced the new GTs and know people that have them. The fastest I have seen them run(at Houston Raceway) is 14.2. BUt the autos on the other hand are looking at more like 14.6-14.7. Basically you could probally take an auto but noe a 5-speed unless he can't drive for sh**. Good luck

a guy my cousin dates has a 98 5spd GT with exhaust, and constantly broke motor mounts from racing... go figure. anyways, he claims he ran a 14.27 at the track, right next to a cobra that ran 14 flat according to him... he also says hes beat plenty of 300ZX TT's and even a few vettes... his mustang is god btw!
