4th gen turbo pics
Just thought you might be interested to see some pics of the turbo on my car! I couldn't change the subject of the original post to reflect more progress
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....0&goto=newpost
It's still work in progress, but it's getting there!

i was very sceptic about a turbo for the max, but that looks very nice. only thing is, what amount of boost will that put out? considering we have a 10:1 compression, i wouldn't wanna be pushing too high...

Let me see if I can answer a couple of questions:
1. We are hoping to see 300 HP at the wheels. No you don't lose 200HP from the tranny.
2. I am running about 7psi of boost, about 1 psi more than the S/C from Stillen run "stock"
3. The S/C run 280HP I believe, but there are losses due to S/C itself taking power from the engine. This has been estimated to be 30-50HP. (sounds a little high but this is from other people)
4. 10:1 compression is high, that is correct, but the S/C people have run as high as 11 psi running smaller pullies, so I am not worried running at 7 psi WITH intercooler.
The intercooler part of the piping is not done yet but will run in front of the engine between the engine and the radiator (I think) I will post more pics when more progress is made!

Your turbo looks awesome! You might want to take a look at my post on the general forum at http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?threadid=100321 This is about the electric ramcharger. One of the testimonials on their site is from a guy running a Toyota MR2 Turbo. Here's what he got from adding this mod:
"There has been a noticable low-end power increase. I use a turbo boost controller depending on my driving mood, On for kicking-butt or off for normal "stock" mode. When it's off, I usually show a boost level of 5 or 6 PSI. When it's on and I'm set to 1.0 bar I show 14-15PSI. After installing the e-Ram and running with the boost controller off, I'm registering 9PSI. With the controller on and set at 1 bar I register 20PSI. The really cool thing about this is that I'm not increasing my EGT's (exhaust gas temp). Usually at 19PSI I reach close to 900c. Now I'm reaching high boost, lower EGT's and more power. It's almost like I've upgraded my intercooler! (I'm still running a stock I/C too!)"

Anyway, the hood's down when I drive. .
Credit to my tuner on this, but the design that he made makes it very easy to work on other stuff in the enginebay. I don't want to give too much information away cos I know there are other turbo kits in the works and don't want to take anything away from my tuner since he thought of most of it.
The only thing I am a little concerned about, I think he may have forgotten is the fact that Auto trannies are bigger. This one runs pretty close to the transmission. I asked him to make extra clearance, but couldn't tell him exactly how much clearance to leave. It IS actually pretty much bolt-on except for oil line. Can't wait till it's all done! Tomorrow, if I am lucky!

Great progress. Looks like your tuner is on top of things. How much labor $$ are you expecting?

I called today and there were problems just getting the car from one place to another. With all these slips I am estimating mid-next week before he's done.
I go to on business trip next sat instead of this ...get to play with my new toy for a bit (hopefully) before I go.
