If you run 18" rims with the appropriate size sidewall it will have the same amount of fender gap you have now, it will just accelerate slower due to the mass. If you drop it without rims it will look like it is dropped with your rims and tires.

i have to disagree w/you on that kirk...

yes, given you have the right size tire it will have the same amount of fender gap, BUT it creates an illusion w/your eye, cuz now you see less tire, and it makes it appear more 4x4y...and if you get a light weight 18, it won't accelerate any slower, but those light weight 18s are $$$$

if you have the $$$ do both at the same time, if not go drop first, cuz i had my 18's on for like 1 week before i dropped it, and trust me it looks weird!

Hehe, ayite. 18's will slow you down. 18's will look better than stock wheels but a drop is a better mod to do first. Esp. since 18's will still have 2.5-3" fender gap it will just look odd.

Kirk

P.S. You are definatley right about the $$$ for lightweight 18's

i disagree...i got 18" chrome wit some descently skinny tires...my gap isn't as wide as it used to be (thank god) but my 18's look like 17's....i didn't get ripped off cause i measured them myself but everytime someone see's my car for the first time, they look at them and be like "yo, u got some rims...nice 17's" then i gotta set them straight and argue hours upon hours about what size they are....i'm not dropping mine though....sometimes there's a lot of weight in the car and JUST IN CASE i decide to get a body kit, i don't want to mess that up

If you now have less fender gap your tires are the wrong size. You said your self that you have "decently skinny" tires, what is the size of them? It sounds like you have a sidewall of 45 or 50.

Man, getting on this forum is getting harder and harder. Whoever runs/operates this site needs to make a more conscious effort to get advertising so as to raise money for more bandwidth/faster machines, it really is getting ridiculous.

On a different note. PLEASE do us all a favor and drop your car first. If I were you, I would even wait until I could do it all. If you have $1500-$2000 right now, just wait a bit, save up another $500-$600 and drop your car while putting on rims. Stock already looks like an SUV with its ride height, then you put 17's or 18's on it with even LESS sidewall and it just looks half assed IMHO.

(disclaimer: any similarity to an ******* in this post is purely coincidental - my job sucks and is getting under my skin, please disregard any edgy wording.)

Blah blah blah. Advertising will make money on a consistent basis for the site. Our donations are one time things and I know I can't even afford to give $5 right now because I'm buying a house. I'd be willing to bet the bottleneck isn't even so much the bandwidth but the server(s) over there getting overloaded. In any event, donations only go so far. Advertising is one sure bet for consistent cash flow. I just told my buddy John@MMXpress.com about it, hopefully you all will start seeing ads for his site soon ... that's my contribution.
