Service Engine Light came on.. now....
Hey sup.
I just got an light that just came on my dash saying: SERVICE ENGINE SOON.
Now is there a way to de-activate this light and turn it off?
Is there a hidden button to turn it off?
Can I disconnect my battery for about 30 min and it will go away?
I know on my Integra that same light came on,, but it was turned off by an hidden switch under the stereo area.
Thanks for imputs...

nah its not the "check engine" light thats comeing on. it is the service engine soon light that is on. More then likely that light only comes on when there needs to be regular service that needs to be done on it,, like an 75,000 mile tune up or something.. kinda like haveing an average JOE BLOW takeing the car to the dealership and paying a crack head mechanic 300-800 dollars for an tune up. I am just needing to know if there is an way to turn it off.
If I dont get no replies... more then likely I will just disconnect the battery and let the computer/emu reset itself.

Yes ... it is the "check engine" light. It is the little orange light on the bottom right, correct?
It doesn't come on when regular service needs to be performed and diconnecting the battery will not reset the ECU. The light will not go away.
You can do an ECU check and see what the problem is. amb4081 is correct when he said that it has something to do with the emissions.
ECU check and decoder here: http://www.batauto.com/nissan.html and http://vbxmaxima.8m.com/ecudecoder.html

"service engine soon" and "check engine" mean the same thing. Do a little searching on how to pull and diagnose the code, then go from there. There are about 200 things that will trigger the light, not just emissions problems, and never for regular maintenance.
