Shift Knob removal???

Can anyone tell me how to remove the shift **** off of my '96 SE? Can this be done without ruining the factory ****? Thanks!!!

It is that simple. All you have to do is twist it off, but it may give some resistance because it is glued on there. Most people suggest wrapping a small towel around the **** and then use some vice grip pliers to twist. This way you will not ruin the ****. You shoud hear a "crack" when the glue releases.

there is glue on the ****. i use a towel wrap around the shiftknob and use the plier handle grip (where you hold it)and give it a good twist. you will hear a loud pop. that is the glue giving.

get a strap wrench no gauges, no effort
