Finished RWD conversion

hey everyone,

i'm finally finished with the FWD-->RWD conversion...it took 3 guys and about a day and a half...we really didn't have directions to go by but we got it done using a chilton's manual and common sense...

and let me tell you...its totally sweet...i have all the notes of the FWD-->RWD conversion and i'll have total directions ready soon along with some basic install pics...

my friend video'ed me doing donuts like a freaking '70 camaro...i swear i'm gonna need new tires in like 2 days...i'll post the video asap...just thought i'd let you guys know

adrian

I would say that it would only be about $800. $700 for parts and the rest for Jack. have a few mechanically inclined friends help you out and you'll be drifting like a pro in no time!

What engine and transmission did you use? How did you mount it into your engine bay? Did you have to cut in through the floor to make a channel for the driveshaft to the rear end? Just doesn't seem like a 700 dollar project, nevermind a 3 day project.

recently it has become extremely fashionable to create ridiculous threads and post thinly-veiled satirical comments in response to stupid questions. this is one of those threads. thought you might like to know.

for those of us that still don't get it... it doesn't work. no. it doesn't. the cost would be astronomical and there would be little to no gains. this has been discussed a million times before. if you are serious do your research and you will find that it will agree with me.

clee, don't you feel somewhat responsible for this?

I thought it was from members being mean to people who post new ideas or "thoughts" of new mods.

But either way it still was funny

Ok the geometry of the maxima is set up so good the way it is right now. So if you tried to make it rear wheel drive you would just be waisting your time money and your maxima. You would have to be an automotive engineer to do this project right. Now I know this was a joke and I shouldn't get worked up about it, but if you want a rear wheel drive 4 door nissan. Go get a J30, it's basically a four door 300zx

What about DWD?????

You know... Driver Wheel Drive!

Your drive wheels are your LF and LR... I'm looking for the right shop to make this happen for me, cuz I tend to turn right a LOT, and this would definitely help out.

Any suggestions on a shop in Austin TX that could handle this?

Thanks,

I just converted my Maxima into a 4 door automagic and even threw in a VQ engine in it .... WOW!!!! What a difference.

It's also capable of FWD <-> RWD switch on the fly thanks to my automagic trnasmission. I put it in D (or any forward gear) and it's FWD. I put it in R and drive backwards, and in theory, it becomes a RWD.

Ok ... I think we've had enough fun with this one.

But to those who complained. You'll notice that there is a link under each post: "Report this post to a moderator"

If you feel that the thread or post is not something that belongs, please feel free to click on it. You will not leave the Org and the email gets sent to me and mzmtg (or if you are in another forum, it gets sent to the moderators of that forum).

We will take a look at it and decide if the thread/post needs moderating.

I usually let this kind of thread slide a little. No need to be total bores. But some people are right, there have been a bit of these kinds of threads recently, so I'm locking this one.
